Why Wikipedia Inclusion Is Important for Internet Marketing & SEO
Wikipedia consistently ranks as one of the top 10 most trafficked sites on the Web. Moreover, critical encyclopedia reviewers have argued that the online, user-generated encyclopedia is "at least as accurate and authoritative as the Encyclopedia Brittannica."

Why It Is Difficult to Be Included in Wikipedia

Additionally, Wikipedia editors strive for what is called the Neutral Point of View [NPOV]. Articles must be encyclopedic in style. They must contain references to authoritative sources. For these reasons, getting your article included into Wikipedia - not to mention keeping your article from getting deleted - can be an extremely daunting task. Furthermore, you have to be pretty familiar with Wiki (BBC) code in order to even get your article to display properly. Because of this, businesses and individuals who would otherwise qualify for inclusion are not included simply because they do not know how to write in Wiki code.
